Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you might want to know about Cvbuildly
Privacy and Security
Where is my data stored?
Your resume data is stored only in your browser’s localStorage, on your own device; it is never saved to our servers. If you like, you can back up your resume to your own Google Drive. For tasks like generating a PDF or importing an existing resume, your data is processed in memory only for the duration of the task and is not written anywhere.
Is my data safe?
Because your resume data isn’t stored on our servers, there is no server-side resume database that could leak. If you turn on Google Drive backup, the data is written directly to your own Drive. Keeping your device and Google account secure is up to you.
Can I delete my data?
Yes, anytime. Clearing your browser data is enough; if you used Drive backup, you can delete the file from Google Drive. Since we don’t hold your resume data on our servers, there’s nothing to delete on our side.
Can I take my resume to another app?
Yes. You can download your resume as a PDF, a Word file (.docx) or plain text (.txt). Open the Word file in another editor to keep working on it, or paste the plain text into an application form.
Do you show ads?
Ads may appear only on some content and blog pages; if you don’t give cookie consent, they aren’t personalized. There are never ads in the resume builder or during downloads, and your resume data is never used for advertising.
Pricing and Support
Is Cvbuildly free?
Yes, every feature is free. You can create unlimited resumes, download PDFs with no watermark, and use the AI tools. There’s no subscription or paid plan.
How can I support the project?
If you’d like, you can make a voluntary donation on our Support Us page or simply share the site with friends who are job hunting. Donations are entirely optional and unlock no extra features or perks; everything is already free for everyone.
Do I need to enter credit card details?
No. You don’t need any payment details or an account to use Cvbuildly.
Features and Usage
What does ATS-friendly mean, and why does it matter?
An ATS (applicant tracking system) is software companies use to manage job applications. An ATS-friendly resume uses a format these systems can read and process easily. If your resume isn’t ATS-friendly, it may be filtered out no matter how strong your qualifications are.
What is the ATS score, and how is it calculated?
The ATS analysis in the builder looks at how complete your sections are, how your resume is structured, and how well it matches the keywords in a job description, then gives you a score and suggestions. The score is an estimate; it can’t guarantee how a real ATS will treat your resume, but it’s a good way to spot gaps.
Can I write a cover letter too?
Yes. From the builder, open the cover letter page to write a cover letter using the details from your resume, then download it as a PDF.
Can I import my existing resume?
Yes. Upload an existing resume file to the builder to fill in the form with your details. The file is processed in memory only while it’s being parsed and is not stored. Always review the imported details.
Can I create my resume in another language?
Yes. You can choose the language of your resume; template headings and date formats change to match. You write the content yourself, and the AI tools can help you polish your wording.
How do the AI features work?
Our AI features improve job descriptions, analyze tone, and suggest skills. They run on Groq’s infrastructure; the text you write is sent only to process your request. The AI only makes suggestions; the final decision is always yours.
Can I use it on my phone?
Yes. Cvbuildly works on mobile, so you can use it on your phone, tablet, or computer.
How many resumes can I create?
As many as you like. Create different resumes for different positions and switch between them. Your resumes are stored in your browser.
Technical Questions
Which browsers do you support?
We support the latest versions of Chrome, Firefox, Safari, and Edge.
Can I use it offline?
Partly. You can view and edit data already saved in your browser, but the AI features, PDF generation, and Drive sync need an internet connection.
Will I lose my resume if I clear my browser data?
Yes. If you clear your browser data completely, the resume saved in localStorage is deleted too. We recommend downloading important resumes as PDFs or backing them up to Google Drive.
Can I access my resume from multiple devices?
If you turn on Google Drive backup, you can load your resume on other devices. Otherwise, your data is kept separately in each device’s browser.
